What are the most common issues and how do I fix them?

Quick solutions to the most common SwiftPrep issues. If your issue is not listed here or these steps do not help, see the comprehensive troubleshooting guide for detailed solutions.

Installation Problems

App Will Not Start

If SwiftPrep will not start after installation:

  1. Restart your computer - This resolves most startup issues
  2. Check system requirements - Ensure your system meets minimum specs
  3. Run as administrator (Windows) - Right-click and select "Run as administrator"
  4. Check firewall settings - SwiftPrep needs internet access for some features
  5. Reinstall the application - Download a fresh copy from the dashboard

Installation Fails Midway

If installation does not complete:

  • Ensure you have sufficient disk space (500MB minimum)
  • Disable antivirus temporarily during installation
  • Check that you have write permissions to the install directory

Sync and Cloud Issues

Data Not Syncing

If your data is not syncing across devices:

  1. Check your internet connection - Run a speed test
  2. Verify you are logged in - Check the account icon in the top right
  3. Force sync - Go to Settings > Sync > Force Sync Now
  4. Check sync status - Look for the sync indicator (cloud icon)

Conflict Resolution

When the same content is edited on multiple devices:

  • SwiftPrep will show a conflict dialog
  • Choose which version to keep
  • Enable "Auto-resolve conflicts" in settings to use the most recent edit

Performance Issues

Slow Performance

For sluggish app behavior:

  • Close unused campaigns - Each open campaign uses memory
  • Clear the cache - Settings > Advanced > Clear Cache
  • Reduce animation quality - Settings > Display > Animations
  • Update your graphics drivers - Especially for graph view features

High Memory Usage

If SwiftPrep uses excessive memory:

  • Limit the number of open tabs
  • Disable real-time collaboration when working solo
  • Export and archive old campaigns

AI Generation Issues

AI Features Not Working

If AI generation fails:

  • Check your internet connection (AI features require online access)
  • Verify your subscription tier includes AI features
  • Try simplifying your generation parameters
  • Clear the AI cache in Settings > Advanced

Poor Quality Results

If generated content does not meet expectations:

  • Provide more specific context in your prompts
  • Use the feedback button to improve future results
  • Try different prompt styles or parameter combinations
  • Check the "Advanced" toggle for more control options

[!INFO] AI features require Companion or Power tier subscriptions. Free tier users have limited access to AI generation.

Cannot Log In

If you cannot access your account:

  1. Use the "Forgot Password" link
  2. Check for typos in your email
  3. Verify your email address was confirmed
  4. Contact support if issues persist

Subscription Not Recognized

If premium features are not available:

  • Log out and log back in to refresh your session
  • Check your subscription status in account settings
  • Verify your payment was processed successfully
  • Contact support with your transaction ID
