Planned Features
When released, Foundry import will support:
What Will Import
| Foundry Content | SwiftPrep Entity |
|---|---|
| Actors | NPC entities |
| Items | Item entities |
| Journal Entries | Plot hooks or session notes |
| Scene descriptions | Location atmosphere |
Expected Workflow
- Locate your Foundry world data folder
- Select the world in SwiftPrep import wizard
- Preview what will import
- Import and review content
Prepare for Import
While waiting for this feature, you can prepare your Foundry data:
Organize Your Foundry Data
Take time to clean up your Foundry world:
- Clean up unused actors and items
- Organize journal entries into folders
- Note important content you want to import
- Archive old content you do not need
Export Important Content
Consider manually exporting critical content now:
- Copy journal entry text to a document
- Note key NPC details
- Screenshot or copy important information
- Keep a list of content you definitely want in SwiftPrep
Alternative: Manual Entry
While waiting for Foundry import, you can start building in SwiftPrep:
Transfer Key Content Manually
- Create entities manually in SwiftPrep
- Copy content from Foundry journals
- Use AI to help flesh out sparse entries
- Build relationships as you go
This takes more time but gives you full control over organization.
Start Fresh with Enhancement
Some DMs use this as an opportunity to:
- Reorganize their campaign structure
- Expand sparse entries with AI generation
- Build proper relationships from the start
- Tag everything consistently
[!TIP] If you have a large Foundry campaign, focus on transferring just the content you need for your next few sessions. You can add more over time.
What Foundry Import Will Look Like

- Preview entities to import
- Configure options
- Import and review
Post-Import Tasks
After import, you will want to:
- Review imported content for accuracy
- Add relationships between entities
- Tag content for organization
- Enhance sparse entries with AI
